Want Excellent Ideas for Updates for Your facebook Page?

Need Ideas for facebook Updates?

How could you make your page interesting and likeable for visitors to build interest in your site and products? Need more ideas than ‘chain tag’ updates and endless competitions giving away all your stock?

This resource lists many ways you can easily share interesting and topical posts with your fans on your shop’s facebook page, without having to strain your brain or post repetitious fluff…

Keep In Mind:

– Your page is your brand.
– Updates should add value to your brand, which means of interest to your fans.
– Before sharing an update, answer yes to these 2 questions:
1. Does this post relate to my brand and my fans?
2. Would a fan find it engaging? (ie be able to comment or ‘like’ it?, quickly?)

General Important Tips:

– When you take a photo of a product to post on facebook, aim to always include either a business card beside it, or show your business tag on the piece if possible.

– When you add a photo, always ‘@’ tag to your facebook page first, then add details in the description, such as: @tag. Cool Split Crotch Pants, 2012. A sneak preview or Sarah… (NB You can re-edit your older photos to include this information.)

Why? So that whereever your image turns up, your brand is visible, and extra SEO opportunities as well.

How Often?

Post an update daily at first to promote your page, then find a happy medium, daily first thing in the morning or last at the end of the day, each Monday and Thursday… Log on, consult this list, link to something or add a photo and hit SHARE!

1. Ask Open-Ended Questions…*

What would you call this product?

What would you name this set?

What do you like about…?

What – Where – Which – Why – How – When – Who…

* Did you know that people enjoy sharing their opinion as much as they enjoy receiving money?

2. Conduct A Poll…

What is your favourite product / colour /pattern in my ‘xyz’ album?

What is your favourite type of product in my ‘xyz’ range?

Which product from my range would you recommend for a new mother?

3. Post Trivia…

Trivia related to your shop / brand or your niches…

Did you know?

On this day…

4. Create a ‘Fill in the Blank’ Sentence…

Fill in the blank: My top tip for ….. is…

Fill in the blank: My best advice for ….. is to…

5. Mention Chocolate…

Having a blank? People love to talk about chocolate. Ask which is their favourite brand or bar, or a comparison of x vs y.

6. Provide A Quote…

Ask who said it or where it comes from. Related to your niches or current topics.

7. Update Your Latest Brand Related Activities…

8. Ask For Help…

9. Run a ‘Contest’*

Run a contest to have a new unique product named for the best suggestion to come in.
* Note: A prize is NOT always required, having their entry as the winner is great fun! @tag them…

10. Ask For Comparisons…

Easy market research… Which do you like better? Product bundle A or B? (Similar) Product A or B? Which would look best on your baby this Christmas?

11.  Create an Album That Reveals Snapshots…

Take a series of photos of your studio / workroom/ activities and post a series of updates, adding each to an album, revealing glimpses of your business life.

12. Create an Album For Fans…

Create an album for fans to post photos of their use of your products. Promote it regularly, do shoutouts. Name the people (@tag them), folks like to see their name pop up!

13.  Answer a FAQ In A Short Update…

An update is 420 characters (includes spaces & punctuation) 4-5 sentences, roughly. Ask then answer questions about your products, care of them, etc. Compile a collection to copy and paste in again in future. Sticking to the 420 characters of a visible update is good, as fewer people click on the ‘read more’ part of an update.

14.  Post Your Events…

Post about your brand related activities: meetups with other mums, market visits, demonstrations etc.

15. Create an Album That Records The Step By Step Creation Of A Product…

Run a series of updates that talk about a photo you add to a special album about the creation steps of a product, or following an order from start to finish, etc…

Announce upcoming ranges or products, as they are created, ordered, becoming available, almost running out…

17. Sneak Peeks!

Do close ups, details of features, ‘action’ shots, glimpses of new products, ranges, brands etc… What is this closeup of? Which ‘product’ brand is this? Answer tomorrow…

18.  Promote Your Vendors…

Do casual updates mentioning vendors and associates; those who provide you with great service, experience, prices, advice or products. Tag them in thanks (@fbname)

19.  Update About Current Affairs in Your Niche Area…

A simple statement or link to something on your blog perhaps.

Did you hear about?…

20.  Note Fan Milestones…

‘Shoutout’ to the 100th fan, 500th, etc. Significant rather than trifling numbers though.. Avoid begging for fans.

21.  Note Special Days…

World Environment Day, Real Nappy Week, Start of  Spring, End of Winter, Valentines, and other such observances that you can relate to your products…

21.  Update from your archives…

Highlight an article on your website and link to it.  Simple and easy, good for SEO, too!

22. Spotlight Every New Post…

It’s a simple task to promote each new post you create to your facebook page, which then updates to your twitter account. (Saves me doing anything on there, lol).

23. Be Friendly – Like things!

Pop around and ‘like’ more than pages – visit posts, ‘like’ them, read comments, ‘like’ them. It all shows you are looking around and interested and friendly… Plus folks are curious and might just popover to your page!

24. Q and A About the Photos in Your Galleries

Ask a question about a photo in one of your facebook galleries and ask for the answer – run a series!

25. Share Testimonials as they come in…

Simple, post them, @Tag the writer if they are happy for you to do so.
